Upper and Lower Veneers Testimonial | Kathy Childress | Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD | Lexington KY

My name is Kathy Childress. I am one of the owners of CrossFit Maximus which is a functional fitness facility in Lexington, KY. I guess that’s how Jenny and I met each other about 5 years ago. We were fitness buddies and she mentioned to me that she was going back to work. At the time I didn’t know that she was a dentist, or a cosmetic dentist at that.

She has done twelve veneers on my upper and lower teeth and they have been great. They feel like my own teeth and I have no problems with them at all. I get compliments on them all the time on my smile and I’m usually the one giving up information when people comment about my smile and how pretty my smile is and I give Jenny any time that I can.

Saving Money and Time with Porcelain Veneers | Lexington Cosmetic Dentist

When you decide to go the route of cosmetic dentistry, there are many different options for perfecting your smile.  Some methods are cheaper than others, but you have consider the longevity of the veneers you will get for your smile make over.  Also, will the new veneers need repairs and replacements in the future?  Can I change the color once they are on?

You must consider these questions before getting work done.  Usually, you will realize it’s best to do it right the first time.  This is where Porcelain Veneers come in.  Cost of the veneers will depend on the total number of teeth.  They usually range from $700 to $2,000 per tooth.  When considering the cost of porcelain veneers how long they will last, and their overall attractiveness.

Porcelain veneers tend to be a long lasting alternative to other treatments that cost less but must be repaired more often and lose their cosmetic appeal more quickly.

Would you rather pay once and get it done right, or constantly repair them?

Do it right the first time, and get porcelain veneers.

Why Metal Free Dentistry? | Tooth Colored Fillings | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD | Lexington KY

“Why metal free you might wonder?  Another very important part and reason not to use metal in cosmetic dentistry is the cosmetic or aesthetic effect.  If a natural tooth has a silver color and metal filling, when the light hits that tooth the light hits the tooth, hits the metal and bounces back out, turning the tooth grey.  So you can see images of a tooth that has a metal filling in it and the grey appearance the tooth has and when the metal filling is removed and replace with a tooth colored filling, how the tooth completely revitalizes becomes much brighter and you can just sense it is much healthier as a result.  So with any fillings, veneers, crowns and bridges, we are always going to search for the metal free option.”

At Hamburg Expressions you can experience metal free dentistry by Dr. Jenny Miller and Neil Miller.

Tooth Design in Cosmetic Dentistry | Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD | Lexington KY

“I think having an eye for design is very important in cosmetic dentistry in Lexington, KY.  I think some people are artistic and others just don’t have that interest.  I’ve always been interested in art and I feel like I do have an eye for detail.  It’s very important when you are looking at the nuances of tooth form, and color.  Color is a big issue.  Some people don’t see the difference of why color doesn’t match.  Sometimes color doesn’t match because the value is off.  It’s not really the actual color is off, but one tooth may be brighter but the color is the same.  But to be able to distinguish and find out details as to why something as small as a tooth doesn’t match.. is very important.”

Importance of a Smaller Practice | Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD | Lexington KY

“I would say that the reason I design and have a smaller niche practice that’s focused on cosmetics, I have several reasons actually.  One is design is something I love to do, I love photography, I love interior design.. I like creating something that is beautiful and ideal.  It was one of my driving forces in dental school.  I wanted to do something where I could create beauty.  So I had a real interest in cosmetic dentistry.  This smaller niche practice is great because it achieves the goal having a low volume practice.  I like general dentistry but a smaller practice allows to me really focus on what I love which is design.  Having a smaller practice allows me to be with my family, I have three kids that are all active in school and sports and I need to be there for them.  So I have more control over my life with a smaller practice.”

Implant Crowns That Look Natural at Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD

Imagine the devastation one must feel when they lose a front tooth. Modern dentistry has eased that blow with the advent of tooth implants but still the challenge remains of matching the new implant crown to the natural surrounding teeth perfectly. Compromises in the esthetics or the appearance of the implant crown cannot be afforded when dealing with an upper front tooth. Many times what will happen when front teeth are not restored to match natural teeth is an avoidance to smile and ultimately a negative change in personality. Our smile is the first thing most people notice and when we smile we leave the impression that we are a happy person.
This is a case where an implant crown was made on the upper left central incisor and composite bonding was placed on the upper right central incisor in order to better match the crown. The poor, unnatural esthetics took their toll on the confidence of this patient so she sought out our services to get her natural smile back. After tooth whitening we replaced the implant crown and restored the adjacent central with the same material, porcelain. We customized these restorations in her mouth in order to achieve her natural look. Our unique advantage, at Hamburg Expressions, is our in-office lab. This allows us to perfect restorations in the mouth and process them in our lab while the patient is in the chair. The outcome was fabulous! We have naturally appearing front teeth and most importantly a happy patient who loves to smile!

Do you Hate Your Smile? | Do You Want a new smile? | Trial Smile

” in the meantime we want the patient to be able to experience life with our first proposal. The trial smile procedure we do here is one of the most significant key factors in our case. Basically someone comes in and they want a smile makeover. They way to start that is to use a diagnostic, we take impressions of clients mouth and take them into the lab. We then create the perfect smile for the client in wax. Once we do that we can make a matrix for the dentist so that when the dentist goes into the mouth and prepares the teeth for the porcelain veneers. We translate in a simple five minute procedure, we take the splint from the diagnostic and fill the splint with a tooth colored resin material. And place that splint over the patients prepared teeth. So that when they sit up from having the initial treatment done, they have the cosmetic result. Here is our first trial of what your teeth will look like. But lets make sure that we can eat with them, that you can talk with them, that they aren’t too long or interrupt your speech patterns. The patient can live with those for two weeks while the veneers are being made in the laboratory. Changes can still simply be made during these two weeks. So that once the final veneers go in there is no surprises. We all just know exactly where we are going because of the communication. The trial smile is a step that should never be skipped in cosmetic dentistry.”

Dr Jenny Miller DMD | Testimonial | Marsha | Hamburg Expression

“My name is Marsha, and before I felt like my teeth.. the color wasn’t bright and they were too big and didn’t look natural. I’ve had porcelain veneers, caps replaced, I’ve had a dental implant. It is definitely worth coming here. I drive probably a little over an hour to get here to Lexington Kentucky.   Anything I have done, Dr Miller is so gentle and she just keeps asking while she is working on you, are you hurting? I never had. I thought that was amazing, because I’ve always been afraid of the dentist. I think my teeth look very natural now. I think my life has changed, I do feel more confident. I have gotten a lot compliments on my smile and my teeth.”

Porcelain: Crowns vs. Veneers

Porcelain Crowns vs. Porcelain Veneers

Both porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers have unique advantages and limitations that make them appropriate for treating specific dental concerns. For example, all ceramic or porcelain dental crowns improve both the appearance and function of injured or damaged teeth. They cover and protect the entire surface area of the tooth, eliminating pain and restoring strength. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, typically address only cosmetic concerns and are applied to otherwise healthy teeth. Stains, minor chips, misalignment, or other imperfections can be concealed with the thin porcelain shells, which slide over the front surface of teeth. Also, because they cover less of the natural tooth, less tooth structure has to be removed to accommodate porcelain veneers.

A dentist can provide more information on porcelain crowns versus porcelain veneers and help determine which treatment is best for you based on cost and your unique goals and needs.

What is the Average Cost of Dental Crowns?

The average cost of a dental crown varies. Often, the type of dental crown plays the most significant role in determining its price. For example, all ceramic or porcelain crowns tend to cost more than other types of dental crowns because they are more time-consuming and require greater skill to be applied correctly. Additionally, because all porcelain crowns provide the most natural appearance, they typically cost more than porcelain fused to metal or all metal crowns. Most doctors offer cosmetic dentistry financing to make the dental crown procedure more affordable for patients.
