Importance of a Smaller Practice | Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD | Lexington KY
“I would say that the reason I design and have a smaller niche practice that’s focused on cosmetics, I have several reasons actually. One is design is something I love to do, I love photography, I love interior design.. I like creating something that is beautiful and ideal. It was one of my driving forces in dental school. I wanted to do something where I could create beauty. So I had a real interest in cosmetic dentistry. This smaller niche practice is great because it achieves the goal having a low volume practice. I like general dentistry but a smaller practice allows to me really focus on what I love which is design. Having a smaller practice allows me to be with my family, I have three kids that are all active in school and sports and I need to be there for them. So I have more control over my life with a smaller practice.”

Implant Crowns That Look Natural at Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD

Imagine the devastation one must feel when they lose a front tooth. Modern dentistry has eased that blow with the advent of tooth implants but still the challenge remains of matching the new implant crown to the natural surrounding teeth perfectly. Compromises in the esthetics or the appearance of the implant crown cannot be afforded when dealing with an upper front tooth. Many times what will happen when front teeth are not restored to match natural teeth is an avoidance to smile and ultimately a negative change in personality. Our smile is the first thing most people notice and when we smile we leave the impression that we are a happy person.
This is a case where an implant crown was made on the upper left central incisor and composite bonding was placed on the upper right central incisor in order to better match the crown. The poor, unnatural esthetics took their toll on the confidence of this patient so she sought out our services to get her natural smile back. After tooth whitening we replaced the implant crown and restored the adjacent central with the same material, porcelain. We customized these restorations in her mouth in order to achieve her natural look. Our unique advantage, at Hamburg Expressions, is our in-office lab. This allows us to perfect restorations in the mouth and process them in our lab while the patient is in the chair. The outcome was fabulous! We have naturally appearing front teeth and most importantly a happy patient who loves to smile!
Miller Family Barbeque! | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD

…..What beautiful weather we have had lately…what a great time for a family barbeque! We celebrated our daughter, Layne’s, 15th birthday together. Neil’s side of the family came to spend the day with us…including his 95 year old grandmother. Neil broke out the smoker and he smoked chicken and grilled burgers. A few games of “cornhole” and a bonfire with S’mores were a wonderful way to wrap up a perfect day!
No More Dentist Office Smell
New patients that come into our office tend to notice immediately the environment. It’s very non-dental. We purposefully did that, we eliminated white walls, white lab coats, anything you would typically see in an average dental practice. We replaced those things with warm colors, soft sounds , soft music, and aroma therapy during every visit. We get the most compliments about our environment. A lot of times, patients when they are leaving after their cleaning say, “I wish I could stay here all day because it is so relaxing here.”
Signs of Dental Aging or Gum Disease? | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD
You know, normally if people have concerns about the look or appearance of their smile, they can pinpoint what that is. Occasionally, people say I have spaces at my gum line, which we call black triangles. Maybe it looks like they have black pepper in their teeth? That type of question comes up, and those things can be restored with veneers or composites, in a very conservative manner. But there are ways to treat that. Occasionally, those spaces in the gum line are only due to gum disease and periodontal disease. Occasionally, they are due to age. As we get older, our gum line does recede slightly, our teeth erupt a little further and then the natural taper in our teeth will leave spaces. But it does raise a question, do we have gum disease or not?
The Health Benefits of Metal Free Dentistry | Lexington KY | Neil Miller
The health benefits associated with Metal Free Dentistry as a whole are very important to discuss. The reason we don’t like metal in the mouth because anytime you look in a mouth that has no dentistry in it, a natural mouth, there is no metal in it. So, if we can avoid using metal in the mouth, that would always be our preference.
Types of Metal Free Fillings | Porcelain Fillings versus Composite Fillings | Lexington KY | Jenny Miller DMD
Metal Free Fillings. There are two options as far as metal free fillings go. One can be a composite resin material that the dentist places directly in the tooth. The other is a porcelain material that is fabricated in a dental lab and then is placed on at second appointment and bonded to the tooth. They are very important not only for the aesthetics, the appearance of the tooth, and that they are tooth colored and blend seamlessly with the tooth. They are also important because they are bonded to the tooth.
Do you Hate Your Smile? | Do You Want a new smile? | Trial Smile
” in the meantime we want the patient to be able to experience life with our first proposal. The trial smile procedure we do here is one of the most significant key factors in our case. Basically someone comes in and they want a smile makeover. They way to start that is to use a diagnostic, we take impressions of clients mouth and take them into the lab. We then create the perfect smile for the client in wax. Once we do that we can make a matrix for the dentist so that when the dentist goes into the mouth and prepares the teeth for the porcelain veneers. We translate in a simple five minute procedure, we take the splint from the diagnostic and fill the splint with a tooth colored resin material. And place that splint over the patients prepared teeth. So that when they sit up from having the initial treatment done, they have the cosmetic result. Here is our first trial of what your teeth will look like. But lets make sure that we can eat with them, that you can talk with them, that they aren’t too long or interrupt your speech patterns. The patient can live with those for two weeks while the veneers are being made in the laboratory. Changes can still simply be made during these two weeks. So that once the final veneers go in there is no surprises. We all just know exactly where we are going because of the communication. The trial smile is a step that should never be skipped in cosmetic dentistry.”
Dr Jenny Miller DMD | Testimonial | Marsha | Hamburg Expression
“My name is Marsha, and before I felt like my teeth.. the color wasn’t bright and they were too big and didn’t look natural. I’ve had porcelain veneers, caps replaced, I’ve had a dental implant. It is definitely worth coming here. I drive probably a little over an hour to get here to Lexington Kentucky. Anything I have done, Dr Miller is so gentle and she just keeps asking while she is working on you, are you hurting? I never had. I thought that was amazing, because I’ve always been afraid of the dentist. I think my teeth look very natural now. I think my life has changed, I do feel more confident. I have gotten a lot compliments on my smile and my teeth.”
Find a great Cosmetic Dentist | What is the AACD? | Lexington Kentucky Cosmetic Dentist
Find a great Cosmetic Dentist in Lexington Kentucky
” The AACD is the American Acadmey of
Cosmetic Dentistry. Which is an organization
designed to help dentists improve with
cosmetic dentistry.
It is very important to be a member of the AACD
in order just to be with like minded professionals.
Dentistry is like any other profession these
days it is always changing. There is always
new material and new techniques coming out.
To do things better and more efficently and
producing better results.
Most schools don’t provide cosmetics as a specilaty
so it sets parameters for dentists to use to
make sure they have ideal results with cosmetics.
The AACD helps us stay on top of the current
techniques and in a more efficient manner.
Any dentist can go out and do cosmetic dentistry
but really have no idea where to begin with a case.
The patient could end up with a result they
are very unhappy with and they didn’t realize they
were going to a dentist that maybe didn’t have
knowledge in that particular field.”
