Welcome to Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD | Hamburg Expressions | Lexington, KY

_____________________________________________________________________________

Our office is located in Hamburg in Lexington, KY in the Hamburg area which is right off of the interstate and our office differs quite a bit from the standard dental office that you would walk into.   The most unique features about our practice is the fact that not only do we have an in-house lab but, my in-house lab technician is my husband and we’ve been married for 17 years now.  That really helps us in the lab to get immediate feedback on our cases. To be able to know what’s going well and unfortunately maybe what’s not going well over the years.

We know well how to communicate with one another and we use that to our advantage. He works with a lot of other fantastic cosmetic and re-constructive dentists and I benefit from that. Neil’s very progressive, he seeks out knowledge and wants to get better and better so he’s certified with LVI, the Las Vegas Institute, as a master Lab Technician.

We have twenty-two active clients in our laboratory right now and most of them are located out of state. We have lab clients in Knoxville; Indianapolis; Cincinnati; Raleigh, NC as well as others and doing those complex re-constructive and cosmetic cases for those other doctors also gives my wife, Dr. Miller,  an added perspective of the industry as well.

I’m able to communicate with my lab-technician because he’s right here so if something’s challenging, I can take it to him and I can say “what do you think we can do here?” The real benefit is the fact that it’s cost effective. It saves patients money in order to come in. There is fewer appointment time, we’re able to charge patients less for our restorations because it doesn’t take us as long to do these kinds of things.

You know when I was younger, you tend to get a fear of a dentist, and even going to the dentist and everything. I was very self-conscious about my smile and I’d actually gotten to the point where I would practice my smile  because of the way my teeth were stained and everything.  I’d practice my smile in front of the mirror and had it down to an art where I could hide my stains with my lower lip.

Was I nervous about initially getting the work done? Initially yes, but Dr. Miller’s fixed everything and it’s just a complete transformation. You know, coming in here, Dr. Miller and everyone was very nice and she’s very gentle and everything. I’m actually a different person because of the work that Dr. Miller’s done.

The best way in most situations that we can figure out where the end will be, is to models and photographs  of the teeth and do wax-ups before we start and then present those to our patients.  I sit down with a treatment plan and they can see really  close up what’s going on in their mouth, and I’ll go through periodontics, which is gums and bone; we’ll go through bio-mechanics which is the structurally sound feature of every tooth. We’ll go through the functionality of the teeth and we’ll also look at the aesthetics, what’s causing your teeth not  to look good. So looking at these things educates the patient as to what do we need to do to fix the problem we have at hand.

Then we finally get to our treatment options, and I don’t base those options on how much it’s going to cost or any other reason other than what will be best and I always compare that to what would I ant for myself .

Using Your Dental Benefits and Flex Spending before end of year

If your employer has provided the benefit of a Flex Spending Account you are eligible to up to 40% of the cost of you and your family’s dental work by using pre-tax dollars.
By the end of the year, your Flex Spending Accounts may not be available for you to use due to new legislation.
Here are some ways for you to use your FSA before the end of the year:
  • Plan major expenses ahead of time.  You can prevent the hit of a major expense by spreading the cost throughout the year.
  • If you have Orthodontia Insurance, you can pair it with your FSA to save a substantial amount of money on your orthodontia. The only approved FSA expense that can be reimbursed during the course of treatment and payments are made, is orthodontia.
  • You must claim your services provided by the end of the period determined by your plan.
  • Look over coverage from your insurance and expenses that you have to pay thoroughly before you determine how much to put into your FSA.  This will help you prevent losing left-over money at the end of your plan’s year and make sure to receive your eligible savings.
  • Cosmetic procedures are not covered expense for your FSA.  Things like Veneers (unless it is a health issue), whitening, won’t be re-imbursed.
Every time you arrive for a dental appointment, show your dental insurance ID card.  Make sure you understand your benefits before you being to pay for dental expenses.  Be diligent and use your FSA to pay only your portion of your cost.

Implant Crowns That Look Natural at Hamburg Expressions | Dr. Jenny Miller DMD

Imagine the devastation one must feel when they lose a front tooth. Modern dentistry has eased that blow with the advent of tooth implants but still the challenge remains of matching the new implant crown to the natural surrounding teeth perfectly. Compromises in the esthetics or the appearance of the implant crown cannot be afforded when dealing with an upper front tooth. Many times what will happen when front teeth are not restored to match natural teeth is an avoidance to smile and ultimately a negative change in personality. Our smile is the first thing most people notice and when we smile we leave the impression that we are a happy person.
This is a case where an implant crown was made on the upper left central incisor and composite bonding was placed on the upper right central incisor in order to better match the crown. The poor, unnatural esthetics took their toll on the confidence of this patient so she sought out our services to get her natural smile back. After tooth whitening we replaced the implant crown and restored the adjacent central with the same material, porcelain. We customized these restorations in her mouth in order to achieve her natural look. Our unique advantage, at Hamburg Expressions, is our in-office lab. This allows us to perfect restorations in the mouth and process them in our lab while the patient is in the chair. The outcome was fabulous! We have naturally appearing front teeth and most importantly a happy patient who loves to smile!

No More Dentist Office Smell

New patients that come into our office tend to notice immediately the environment. It’s very non-dental. We purposefully did that, we eliminated white walls, white lab coats, anything you would typically see in an average dental practice.  We replaced those things with warm colors, soft sounds , soft music, and aroma therapy during every visit. We get the most compliments about our environment.  A lot of times, patients when they are leaving after their cleaning say, “I wish I could stay here all day because it is so relaxing here.”

“My name is Francie, I have worked in the dental field for around 14 years now.   I am excited to be joining the Hamburg Expressions team.  I have found cosmetic dentistry to be my favorite aspect of dentistry.  I love seeing the change we can bring to a patient with a new smile.  I have recently moved to the Lexington area about 4 years ago with my family.  I have 5 children that keep me very busy.  Our oldest has made me a grandmother this past December in which I am really enjoying.  Two of my children are in college this fall, one in high school and one little one at home. ”

Hamburg Expressions Cosmetic Dental Technician takes Masters Course

Neil Miller CDT

” The Art of Esthetics and Ceramics Master Course”

Neil Miller CDT, Master Dental Technician with Hamburg Expressions, in Lexington, Ky, completed “The Art of Esthetics and Ceramics Master Course” presented by Oliver Brix, MDT. Upon returning from the course Neil said,”I think I have gained a wealth of information as to how to manage the materials I am already using in a new way that will result in a higher calibur of esthetics when producing porcelain crowns, porcelain veneers, etc… This will ultimately take my lab to the next level. The best way to be the best is to learn from the best!”
